How I lead

I’ve sat through enough leadership talks to know the polished answers, so here’s the honest version.

The principles:

I build teams and keep my hands dirty. I’ve hired and grown designers from intern through to manager, written the career frameworks that got them there, and I still do the work when the work needs doing.

I move teams from shipping to discovering. A lot of my last few years has been shifting a practice off pure delivery and toward continuous discovery/research, experimentation, and decisions backed by data instead of by whoever spoke loudest.

I treat the design system as a product. I picked up ours and ran it through its first and second cross-platform rollouts. Treated like a product – with users, a roadmap and a reason to exist – it earns its keep.

I put AI to work, not on a pedestal. I use AI across ideation, prototyping, discovery/research synthesis and ds-aligned delivery. It’s made discovery faster and iteration cheaper. It hasn’t replaced judgement, and I don’t pretend it has, but it does allow designers to focus on what matters.

I work well across the table. Product, engineering, data, commercial, marketing, support -I’ve spent years turning their problems and my team’s craft into things that actually shipped. I rebuilt analytics tracking hand-in-hand with PMs so we could stop guessing.

The impact, in summary:

Over the last few years the work has produced double-digit checkout conversion lift, CTR gains that held across post-booking touchpoints, measurable conversion improvement from experimentation, and real movement in how many people get from landing to searching. On the build side: an optimized post-booking experience providing direct information to users, optimized cross/up-sell post-booking flows, flight-status implementation across touchpoints, 5+ payment methods, 4 loyalty integrations, the Almosafer Wallet, Points Exchange and more.
